Students will be trained to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions to prepare for entry-level positions as phlebotomists. Emphasis will be placed on infection prevention, proper patient identification, test requirements, proper labeling of specimens, and quality assurance. Both classroom instruction and clinical experience/externship in a healthcare facility will provide an opportunity for students to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to take the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Class size limited to 12 students.
NOTE: Externship hours will be scheduled during the day and students will be placed as space is available.
