PORTAGE LAKES CAREER CENTER

All students should continually check your home school and PLCC guidance office for college visit and scholarship information.

PLCC yearbooks are on sale for $15.00 each. The deadline to order is March 1, 2018. Order forms are available in the main office.

In the event that your home school is closed and PLCC is still in session, the buses will run from your home school to PLCC and from PLCC back to your home school. The buses will not be running in your neighborhood. You are required to attend classes at PLCC even if your home school is closed. If you do not attend PLCC for transportation issues, this is considered an unexcused absence.

This year’s Sweetheart Dance will be held on Saturday February 3 from 7-10 pm. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale from January 25 through February 2. If you’re bringing a guest from a different school please see Mrs. Sayers in the main office for a guest form. A “6th Man” is a student or students, who cheer the loudest, cheer the longest, dress in theme and completely support their team to the best of their ability.  Manchester recognizes students who fit that description!  The Jungle is our student section during basketball season.  There will be a theme for each game, and students should dress to match the themes.  Come out, all decked out, and root your Panthers to victory!

Each year, a student, or students are selected as 6th Man of the Year.  These are students who come to every game, dress for the theme, and help lead the chants in The Jungle!  After each game, students will be recognized for their 6th Man efforts, and at the end of the season, someone or a group will be chosen as 6th Man of the Year!

Jungle shirts are now on sale at Game Day Sportswear for each of the themes selected for this year’s Basketball Jungle!  Order forms for these shirts are available at MHS.  Any shirts ordered through the school will earn the Pep Club MONEY!  There is a package available, with all 9 shirts for the year, getting 1 shirt free!  The deadline to order the total shirt package is this Thursday!!!  

The Science Club is sponsoring “An Introduction to the Basics of Programming Your TI Calculator” after school on Wednesday in Room 107.  All who are interested should plan to attend…and don’t forget to bring your calculator!

You MUST have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian BEFORE you purchase a ticket.  Mr. Murphy or Doc Burgess will have waivers in their rooms for you to pick up and get signed. On Tuesday, November 28 a representative from the University of Akron will give a presentation in the lower lecture room to interested full day PLCC juniors.

Interested full day juniors wishing to attend should sign up in the PLCC Student Services Office by the end of the day on Monday, November 20. Passes will be issued.

There will be a free Thanksgiving Breakfast for a.m. and full day students on Wednesday, November 22 in the cafeteria before school.

GREEN HIGH SCHOOL

Attention Seniors: The Yearbook Staff would like to include your baby photos in the yearbook. There are a limited number of spots available, so the first students to drop off their photos in the senior baby photo box in the main office will have the best chance to be pictured. Please make sure your name is on the back of the photo, so we can identify you and return your photo.

This year’s Fall Sports Awards Presentation will be held at Green High School on Tuesday, November 21st, and will recognize the members of all our GHS athletic teams. Since this will be a semi-formal awards ceremony, we do ask that your student-athlete consider appropriate attire.

Any individual interested in joining Indoor Track needs to sign up with Mr. Gorby in room #305 or Doc Burgess in room #311. You must sign up in order to be placed in the Spartan Period B on December 6, Indoor Track Informational meeting. It will be in this meeting that we go over rules and hand out practice and meet schedules.

This Thanksgiving Day, run in “Home Run for the Homeless,” a race benefiting Akron’s homeless families.

It is time to sign up for musical auditions! The Spring musical will be The Little Shop Auditions will

be held on November 28th, 29th, and 30th. Sign up sheets are outside of Ms. Ibos’s room.

 

Anyone interested in the Bubble Night at Springfield high School:  Tickets will be $6 to play. You MUST have a waiver signed  by a parent or guardian BEFORE you purchase a ticket.
