PORTAGE LAKES CAREER CENTER – 8th Grade Tours today!

Yearbooks are on sale now! Only $10.00 until January 1 and then the price increases to $15.00 each. Deadline to order is March 1, 2018.

On Tuesday, November 28 a representative from the University of Akron will give a presentation in the lower lecture room to interested full day PLCC juniors.

Interested full day juniors wishing to attend should sign up in the PLCC Student Services Office by the end of the day on Monday, November 20. Passes will be issued.

There will be a free Thanksgiving Breakfast for a.m. and full day students on Wednesday, November 22 in the cafeteria before school.

Thanksgiving Break will be November 23 through November 27!

The Fall Sports Recognition will be held Wednesday, November 15. We will be honoring our student athletes who participated in Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer and Volleyball. We will meet in the cafeteria at 5:30 for hors d’oeuvres. At 6:00 we will go to the Auditorium for the presentation of the “Special Awards”. PTA Reflections Cultural Arts Program  This year’s theme is: “Within Reach”

WHAT IS REFLECTIONS? It’s the PTAs annual cultural arts program. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit original works of art around the year’s theme in any of the six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, dance choreography, film production and music composition.

Student entry forms, rules, and project turn-in- date (to be held in December) will be available soon. In the meantime if you like, you can visit the Ohio PTA website at www.ohiopta.org for detailed rules by art category found in the Reflections Handbook.

There will be a mandatory Wrestling meeting after school in the wrestling room today, Thursday the 9th at 2:35 p.m. for anyone interested in wrestling this year.

Seniors, there is an event on Sunday, October 29 to assist families in filing the FAFSA.  It is for anyone, not only students applying to UA. For more information, see Ms. Woods in Student Services.

There are 10 scholarships that are accepting applications from seniors. For more information, see Ms. Woods in Student Services.

All students should continually check your home school and PLCC guidance office for college visit and scholarship information.

Yearbooks are on sale now! Only $10.00 until January 1 and then the price increases to $15.00 each.

Seniors…… If you wish for your portrait to appear in the yearbook, you need to schedule an appointment with Prestige Studio in North Canton. Call (330) 497-0475 to make an appointment. Please make sure to follow the school dress code. All portraits must be taken and selected by no later than November 3.

Tickets are now on sale for the MHS Drama Club’s 2017 Fall Play, Parents Just Don’t Understand.

The play is Saturday night, October 28th starting at 7:00 and Sunday afternoon, October 29th, starting at 2:30 pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the high school in the front office or from Mr. Elder, at Cope’s Pharmacy, and at the door.

Summit Metro Parks Ranger Department is holding an open house for those interested in joining our new Park Ranger Explorer Post.  The post will meet monthly for training opportunities and have several service projects each year.
