When Mrs. Weigand and I created groups for English class, we realized Kam could work with any group because she is KIND, respectful, and diligent. She embodies all the traits that are part of PBIS. Further, she is a leader who will make sure that a task is completed and all group members participate. She deserves to be recognized as Student of the Month.

Skylar goes above & beyond in Cosmetology & theory. She does all that is expected of her & more. She has a wonderful attitude & I know I can count on her to do what I ask & to do it to the best of her ability. She is kind, passionate about cosmetology & is a go getter. She has already made her own cosmetology social media account to advertise herself before I even assigned it as an assignment! She also has been getting herself booked on customer service days by having clients ask for her. She already has a very prestigious salon lined up to work at!

She is determined to do well during her time at PLCC. Shylah is making great strides in her academics and is a positive, hard-working student.Â

Grace is an exemplary student and leader in the Design, Communication, and Marketing Program. Grace earned several Scholastic Art Awards this year, including multiple Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, and a scholarship offer from a local university. Additionally, Grace had three pieces of work advance to the state competition in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Here’s how Grace made that happen: She is ambitious – always seeking an interesting new design challenge. She is curious – eager to learn new skills, tools and techniques. She is collaborative – identifying the strengths and talents of her peers, and inviting them to join her project teams. She has grit – Grace doesn’t settle for less than excellence, and she isn’t deterred if something doesn’t work on the first try. She keeps going until she gets it right. Grace is well-rounded – working hard to continually refine her knowledge and aptitude in design, photography, editing, art direction and project management. It has been such a pleasure to work with Grace this year in DCM. Since we began creating the Pharmacy Lab, Jessica has gone above and beyond in organizing hundreds of empty medicine bottles for our practice labs. Jessica is ECHS, and she is free every morning before reporting to PLCC for lab. Jessica came to school countless days, a few hours early, just to organize the lab. She “trained” a couple of other students to assist her; however, she did all the heavy lifting!Â

I did not have the opportunity to work with Carter much before October, 2021. I was lucky enough to be needed to help with instruction for the Visual Design and Imaging program when their instructor Mr. Raymond was indisposed. I turned to the senior VDI students who have much more design experience (than the junior VDI students or me) to find out what they thought the junior should be working on at this time of year. A few senior students immediately stood out from the rest offering to help with projects for the juniors and Carter was the first and most professional of the small group.
Over the next few weeks, Carter showed what an amazing designer and content creator he truly is by organizing instruction for the junior VDI lab, modifying his schedule so he could come in and personally instruct the juniors on new projects, and helped created a schedule with content, group leaders, and props/staging for PLCC Sophomore Visits. Effectively, the small group led by Carter created a student-led marketing promotion to encourage new students to pick VDI for next school year.  Carter volunteered to come in during his personal time to provide educated content regarding technology and software used in VDI for new students and answer any questions the visitors had. Mr. Rich showed an incredibly animated and entertaining side of his personality that is not often seen at school because he wanted to do his best work in order to make Mr. Raymond proud. Carter also went out of his way to represent the Visual Design & Imaging program professionally by volunteering his time for the Open House evening. As the only student to represent their program during the open house, he introduced himself to every set of visitors, chatted about the software & technical program, and answered parent questions to the best of his ability. Mr. Rich showed concern for all interested students and parents and tried to help everyone he could that evening. Â
Â
Carter and his small group were so incredibly successful at their program marketing that the VDI program was completely filled with new students within two weeks of the recruiting event. Â
Carter Rich makes design, content creation/management and marketing look easy!
