I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Portage Lakes Career Center family and serving the students and families of our 4 feeder schools. My vision for PLCC is to help every student find their passion and to give them the skills to pursue their dreams and goals. I began my career in Orlando, Florida where I was a special education teacher. I then relocated to Stark County with my husband Chris, so that he could join his father to run their family business.

I spent 25 years with the Canton City School District serving as teacher, special education supervisor, and principal of three schools, before joining Canton Local Schools as the district’s curriculum director. I took over as Canton Local’s superintendent in 2010. During my tenure, the district was able to pass a $36.6 million bond issue and began construction of a new high school. I was credited with leaving the district financially strong and positioned to enter a period of growth; physically with the construction of a new high school, and academically with the move toward creative, innovative and collaborative instruction for students.

I have a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Special Education from Florida State University, a Supervision Certification from Kent State University, and a Principal and Superintendent Licensure from Ashland University.
