Effective May 8, 2020, Portage Lakes Career Center will be operating under a test-optional admissions policy for the following programs: Cosmetology, Spa Technician, Esthetics, Nail Technician, EKG and Phlebotomy Technician, Automotive Technician, HVAC-R Technician, Welding Technology, and Plumbing Technologies.
With the ACT WorkKeys Assessment currently unavailable, PLCC feels that students should still be given the opportunity to secure enrollment for the upcoming school year and has, therefore, modified its admissions requirements to a test-optional policy. Students looking to enroll in the above-listed programs can now opt to submit an official high school or GED transcript to be reviewed. Team members will grant student placement only after evaluating the transcript and determining that it meets all criteria for admission. Students who still wish to test in order to be considered for program enrollment may do so once testing and normal operations resume.
**PLEASE NOTE: This test-optional policy DOES NOT APPLY to the Practical Nursing program. Students hoping to enroll in that program MUST test.
