A rewarding career in the beauty industry starts at Portage Lakes Career Center (PLCC), a school located in Uniontown, Ohio, that’s fully accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE). Master all the skills you need in just 10 months to successfully take the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board exam.
Learn Art & Science of Beauty in Cosmetology Training
Our cosmetology school is led by certified instructors who are licensed cosmetologists with years of experience in their field. You will learn through interactive demonstrations and hands-on training about the art and science of hair, skin, and nails such as:
- Hair cutting
- Hair styling and design
- Chemical treatments (highlights, lowlights, balayage, shadow roots, perms, and relaxers)
- Basic skin care
- Hard-gel, acrylic, and dip powder manicures and pedicures
- Makeup application
You’ll also use professional salon products from Kenra®, Redken, Joico, Pevonia®, OPI®, Gelish, Young Nails, Backscratchers® Salon Systems, and more.
Beautician school students in this 1,500-hour cosmetology program gain real-world experience through labs, potential industry internships, and PLCC’s well-appointed salon that’s open to the public three days a week.
In addition, licensed cosmetologists are eligible to take classes for additional certifications in body treatments, hair extensions, thermal strengtheners, and artificial nails.
