Pay for cosmetologists in Ohio varies widely. Pay structure can include hourly wages, a salary, a salary plus commission, and commission-based income. Those who rent a booth at a salon have even more control over their income. What you earn as a cosmetologist depends greatly on experience, knowledge, education, and what you put into it. This industry is about the relationships you make with your clients.
Licensed cosmetologists have job opportunities in many areas of the beauty industry, including salon or spa manager or owner, salon development partner, makeup artist, nail technician, esthetician, wedding and event stylist, and cosmetology instructor. Plus, stylists for film, theater, celebrities, advertising, and fashion shows all started out in cosmetology school.
