Fron Decision to Direction: PLCC Adult Education Student Spotlight
February Spotlight : Welding Student – Erin Quick
Erin Quick has always known she wanted to be a welder—the first in her family to do so. Life had other plans for a while, and like many adults, Erin put her dream on hold while she focused on work and responsibilities. After six years as a server, she realized she wanted more than a job—she wanted a career.
This year, Erin decided it was time. She researched welding programs that would truly fit her life and goals, and that search led her to PLCC. Evening classes, Fridays off, hands-on learning, and strong recommendations made all the difference. Erin says the instructors, learning environment, and real-world experience have been everything she hoped for—and more. She even calls PLCC the “Ivy League of trade schools.”
For Erin, learning from a book matters—but learning by doing is what keeps her motivated and coming back every day. So much so that she’s encouraged friends and family to follow their own paths at PLCC, too.
Erin often reflects on a quote from Jim Carrey: “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.”
She’s doing just that—and her future in welding is getting closer every day.
