Lieutenant Saler is a thirty-eight-year law enforcement officer with an extensive background in conducting educational facilities security assessments, developing workable operational and crisis events plans, and instructing staff through the corresponding training.

Lieutenant Saler has served as the Canton Regional SWAT Cooperative Team Commander and lead trainer, a crisis and hostage negotiator, a three-partner K-9 handler and state evaluator, and as the lead trainer and a task force officer for the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force-Canton, Ohio office.

His most recent assignment was to develop and supervise the school resource deputy program for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Lieutenant Saler states that he very much looks forward to Portage Lakes Career Center’s positive environment, innovative growth, and participating in the strong team safety approach.
