Ohio Technical Center (OTC+)

Dual Credit Program

What Is OTC+?

Ohio Technical Center Plus (OTC+) is Ohio’s dual credit program where students can earn high school and industry credentials at the same time. This program is available to Ohio residents that are in their senior year enrolled at a public/private high school or homeschooled. OTC+ courses are also open to adult learners wishing to gain additional professional skills. Priority admission will be given to students in PLCC’s home school districts.

How Can Students Participate?

Step 1: Requirements

A student is eligible for the Ohio Technical Center Plus program if the student meets any of the following criteria:

  • Current High School Senior
  • On Track for HS Graduation
  • Ability to attend classes outside of the traditional school day
  • Reliable Transportation

Step 2: Admission Policy

To apply for the OTC+ program, a student must:

  • Complete the OTC+ Interest Form
  • Submit a formal admissions application through the Adult Education Student Portal
  • Understand PLCC makes the final admission decision

Step 3: Courses Offered

The following courses are being offered (class size is limited):

  • STNA
  • Phlebotomy Technician
  • IT Fundamentals
  • Emergency Dispatch
  • Drone Pilot

Step 4: Admission or Wait List

Students will be informed of admission and/or being put on a wait list. As spots become available, students will be contacted.

Additional Considerations

Grades

The final grades earned in the OTC+ course are the same grade that will be on the high school transcript.

Are you "post-secondary ready"?

Being “post-secondary ready” is more than just being academically ready:

  • Consider emotional and social transition and OTC’s expectations
  • Consider time management and organizational skills

What Are The Expenses For OTC+?

High School seniors enrolled in an OTC+ course are CTE program funding eligible. Adult learners wishing to take an OTC+ course can refer to the tuition noted in the program description.

Course Information

CNA - Certified Nurse Assistant (80 hours + 16 hour clinical)

A Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides hands-on patient care, assisting with daily activities like bathing, feeding, and mobility. Working in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care, CNAs offer essential support to nurses and ensure patients’ comfort and well-being.

TUITION: $1,200

FALL CLINICALS: November 3, 2025 through November 7, 2025

MANDATORY ORIENTATION: August 12, 2025 | 6P-8P

SPRING START: M-TH | 3P-5P | January 26, 2026 through April 1, 2026

SPRING CLINICALS: April 6, 2026 through April 10, 2026

MANDATORY ORIENTATION: January 5, 2026 | 6P-8P

Phlebotomy (138 hours + 24 hour externship)

A Phlebotomy Technician is a healthcare professional trained to draw blood safely and accurately for testing, donations, and medical procedures. They work in hospitals, clinics, and labs, playing a vital role in patient care.

IT Fundamentals (80 hours)

IT Fundamentals is an introductory course that covers the basics of computer hardware, software, networking, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting. Perfect for beginners, it builds a strong foundation for further IT studies or careers in technology.

Emergency Dispatch (96 hours)

An Emergency Dispatcher is the first point of contact in a crisis, answering 911 calls and coordinating emergency response. They quickly assess situations, provide critical instructions, and dispatch police, fire, or medical personnel to ensure help arrives fast.

Drone Pilot (60 hours)

Drone Pilot is a hands-on course that teaches the fundamentals of drone operation, safety regulations, flight techniques, and aerial imaging. Students gain the skills needed for FAA certification and careers in industries like photography, surveying, and inspections.

TUITION: $500
