Skylar Wetzel

Skylar goes above & beyond in Cosmetology & theory. She does all that is expected of her & more. She has a wonderful attitude & I know I can count on her to do what I ask & to do it to the best of her ability. She is kind, passionate about cosmetology & is a go getter. She has already made her own cosmetology social media account to advertise herself before I even assigned it as an assignment! She also has been getting herself booked on customer service days by having clients ask for her. She already has a very prestigious salon lined up to work at!

Peyton Krager

He is an extremely hardworking student who constantly finds things that need to be done around the lab and then does it without me asking. He typically sweeps the lab, dumps the trash cans, puts tools away while other students find ways to avoid these tasks

Adam Grable

Adam is an awesome student. He’s incredibly funny and works hard every day. He was instrumental in completing the 60-some-odd rooms that needed updated with emergency fire and tornado plans. He worked with Lt. Saler to ensure the plans were exactly what Saler was looking for, and he worked fast to complete the project. I appreciate Adam’s effort and his work ethic.

Noah Shackelford

Noah is a winner of my Jason Bourne Award.  He is the silent assassin as he moves through his assignments, quickly finishing off each one with stealth, quickness and ease.  Noah is always on task, asks great questions, and sees each job through to completion.  He is a great leader who can head up any team, work with any other student and strives to get the job done right the first time.

Anthony Adamson

Anthony is always eager to learn new material in class. He has a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.

Kias Adkins

Kias is very respectful and helpful, he stays on task and asks for help as needed.

Decklan Parvin

Decklan is unfailingly thoughtful, hard working, considerate of others. He’s also witty, creative, and so talented. He is just so awesome to have in class.

Shylah Swiger

Shylah has made great improvements in our class. The first quarter was difficult for Shylah. She struggled to keep her grades up and to turn in her assignments. However, at the start of the second quarter, Shylah made her grades and assignments her main priority. Shylah uses her focus period to study and ask questions about her assignments. She is determined to do well during her time at PLCC. Shylah is making great strides in her academics and is a positive, hard-working student.

Grace Frient

Grace Frient is by far one of the kindest, most respectful students I have had the pleasure of knowing. Grace is also an excellent student. She is a very hard worker and prepared every day to put forth her best. She is dependable, punctual, organized and very responsible. Grace is so kind to all of her peers; she takes care of everyone around her and never has an unkind word about anyone or anything. I have admired Grace from the day I met her for her strength, hard work, compassion, and knowledge of her family farm. She genuinely loves her family and home life. Grace has a big, warm smile that lights up the room and reflects the beauty within her. For these reasons and many more, I highly and graciously recommend Grace Frient for student of the month!

Tevin Wade

Tevin is such a great student. He jumps right in and volunteers to solve problems in class. He helps the students around him and has a great attitude.

Phoenix Barrick

Phoenix is responsible, trustworthy, hard worker that seems to take pride in doing her best & giving her all. She completes all that is expected of her in theory & lab not just to get it done, but to do it well. She has helped her classmates in lab that were struggling to pick up the lesson. She also helps beyond her lab job in the lab. I know if I ask Phoenix to do something it will get done & she will do her best.

Cole Byers

Cole is a lot more focused in his academic class this year. He is working extremely hard, and has kept up with his work, even when he has missed class. Cole transitioned from small group classes last year to co-taught classes for both English and Math, and he is doing well in both classes, completing work and asking for help when he needs it.

Ethan Barton

Ethan is doing great so far in his senior year of Auto Tech. He is employed at Klaben Ford. Ethan is very polite, responsible and helpful. He often comes to the lab during focus period to either get caught up with lab work or help prep things for the next class

Geoffrey Bucksar

Geoffrey is always willing to help out in class. He has been doing an outstanding job helping his classmates learn how to run the excavator and skid loader.

A'Leigha Walker

A’Leigha is always on time and prepared for class. She consistently turns in quality work on time and maintains a positive and friendly attitude.

Abbas Dokan

The First… Abbas is always:

 The first to start working

 The first to finish

The first to provide a class example

The first to go looking to help others

The first to start clean up

I can’t ask any more of this young man. He is a fine example of an outstanding career tech student who will do well in life with his ethics, personal drive and attitude.

Colin Beitko

Colin shows up with a positive attitude every day.  He is always willing to assist whenever needed.  Colin takes his training seriously and performs well on homework assignments, quizzes, and hands-on practicals.

Logan Dinger

Logan is an outstanding student. He works very hard every day and is a leader in the classroom. He doesn’t hesitate to assist others or present our class to visitors.

Stone Musselman

Stone Musselman is an excellent student with a positive attitude and is always ready to learn. He is a quick learner and is ready for more when he completes his hands-on activities. Other students look up to him because of his troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. He is always willing to go above and beyond what is required for assignments. Stone started bringing his own tools halfway through the school year, encouraging other students to do the same. Stone currently is the only junior to have successfully completed the EPA 608 Universal refrigerant handling certification this year. He comes to class prepared and follows safety rules and practices. He often prompts other students to do the same and assists others who may struggle to perform required tasks. Stone also displays an artistic side which adds value to his workmanship, It is a pleasure working with Stone and to see him grow and lead.

Victoria Miller

Victoria Miller is a junior in the Pre- Nursing program at Portage Lakes Career center. Victoria not only has a strong aptitude for learning, but she is also a strong leader. I watched her go beyond what is required. She is very competent in all skills required by the program and is always willing to help peers. She is a wonderful asset to our program.

Mackrenzie Ferriot

Mackenzie is a great student!! She works very hard in the lab and in the knowledge portion of class. She helps wherever needed.    Always completes work on time. Mackenzie asks great questions in class and one on one. She strives to get better everyday!!

Mara Smoot

Mara does her best work whether in theory or in the lab. She works hard to learn new lab skills and push herself to positively learn & complete whatever task is given to her. I trust her to be honest and handle whatever task I throw her way. She volunteers to do jobs that need done. Mara consistently stays on task & has a great attitude even when things don’t go her way. I would hire Mara.

Tyler Horst

Tyler knows what’s expected of him and gets it done. He actively engages in class, listens, and doesn’t hesitate to answer a question or provide feedback when prompted. I think what mostly stands out to me is his willingness to help others in the class, whether it’s on an assignment or just something outside of the curriculum.

Ariella Leon

Ari is bursting at the seams with talent and creative energy.  She is a prolific artist – always in the process of developing something new.  Her illustration and rendering skills are excellent, expressive and unique.  Ari’s photography won several awards this year, including Gold Key and Silver Key, at our regional Scholastic Art and Writing competition at Kent State University. Additionally, Ari is actively taking steps toward a successful future. She has been accepted into the highly competitive pre-college program at Ringling College of Art and Design, and she will get to spend the summer learning at the #1 school for animation in the WORLD. She is kind, collaborative, thoughtful, and her witty personality is positively infectious.

Julia Jodon

Julia has been the top performer in her Law and Criminal Justice program. She can understand complex problems and solve them faster than the average student. She manages time well and is always willing to give a hand to fellow students who need assistance. Julia has always challenged herself academically. She is an active participant in class discussions. She has superb written and verbal skills that are a pleasure for any teacher to encounter. She possesses the qualities of a leader but always remains humble in her interactions with others. Julia consistently seeks out constructive feedback so she can improve her academic progress, which is a rare and impressive quality in a high school student. Julia is truly a stand-out individual who will impress everyone she meets. Julia is a member of the Green High School Choir and has been accepted to attend The Ohio State University.  She is also a NHS and NTHS member.

Cheyenne Wiley

Cheyenne consistently asks how to help more after finishing tasks assigned to her. She has been Eh Ku’s carry buddy, a job she volunteered for when she understood what Eh Ku needed. She does it all day. She also is always looking for more knowledge in the field.

Maxwell Tristano

Max is a wonderful student. He shows up and tries hard every day. He is a leader in the classroom and helps any student in need. I enjoy having him in class.

Grace Bowe

Grace is an exemplary student and leader in the Design, Communication, and Marketing Program. Grace earned several Scholastic Art Awards this year, including multiple Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, and a scholarship offer from a local university. Additionally, Grace had three pieces of work advance to the state competition in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Here’s how Grace made that happen: She is ambitious – always seeking an interesting new design challenge. She is curious – eager to learn new skills, tools and techniques. She is collaborative – identifying the  strengths and talents of her peers, and inviting them to join her project teams. She has grit – Grace doesn’t settle for less than excellence, and she isn’t deterred if something doesn’t work on the first try. She keeps going until she gets it right. Grace is well-rounded – working hard to continually refine her knowledge and aptitude in design, photography, editing, art direction and project management. It has been such a pleasure to work with Grace this year in DCM. I am continually impressed by her excellent design sensibilities, her drive and interest in initiating new client projects, and her effort to build positive relationships with her fellow DCM team members.

Bud Pugh

Bud is doing an outstanding job!  He is a very hard worker and asks for additional hours and additional hands-on learning whenever he can. He is also very professional and is an exemplary School-to-Work placement student.  Bud has had to overcome great adversity this year, learning how to work around his football injury.  The challenge of limited mobility has helped him grow as a precision excavator operator.

Avaiya Totten

Avaiya has a very positive attitude all the time. She does not make any enemies of her peers. She is well-liked by all. She has the most integrity of any student I have had in the past. She is a hard worker and is very responsible. (She even gets her work before a field trip and gets it done and turned in the next day!)

Mark Danner

Mark is a wonderful student to have in class. He is helpful to others and tackles any project that comes through our doors. Mark is also a master of multitasking.

Always asking questions and looking for answers! Helping everyone along the way!  Mason is a great representative of Manchester, PLCC, and ambassador to the welding community!

Anna Kincaid

Anna is one of the most thoughtful students I’ve had. She goes out of her way to be helpful to her classmates & me. The list is long of all the kind, helpful things Anna has done to name a few…

brought in extra gifts for the gift exchange in case someone didn’t have the $ to purchase a gift & participate; made a class song google form so all classmates could have the chance to request songs & manages to play them while keeping it school appropriate for us; comes down from focus period when her work is done to earn hours but always checks salon jobs & does what needs to be done without being asked & seems happy to do it; if a student is having a rough time she befriends them & checks in on them

Jessica Love

Since we began creating the Pharmacy Lab, Jessica has gone above and beyond in organizing hundreds of empty medicine bottles for our practice labs. Jessica is ECHS, and she is free every morning before reporting to PLCC for lab. Jessica came to school countless days, a few hours early, just to organize the lab. She “trained” a couple of other students to assist her; however, she did all the heavy lifting!

I am so proud of the video prepared about the pharmacy for our website. Jessica represented herself and our school with dignity and heartfelt enthusiasm. She didn’t miss a beat during her interview!

Jess is just an amazing student and young lady. She is always prepared, works hard, and has earned excellent grades. Jessica is trustworthy, responsible and ALWAYS kind. She is always the first to volunteer to help others, including me! She never refuses any task that will help someone else.

As her instructor, I genuinely look forward to having Jessica in class every day. She walks through the door with a smile, and leaves with a smile. Her positive, kind energy is felt by everyone!

Mason Sporup

Mason consistently works above my expectations in class. Mason is attentive and inquisitive about the HVAC industry. If every student was like Mason my job would be too easy.

Savannah Bosley

Savannah is a strong student who we are lucky to have at PLCC.  She is the kind of person who speaks up when she sees something that doesn’t feel right and advocates for people who may not know how to do so for themselves.  If she chooses to continue in the medical field post graduation, she will make a wonderful patient advocate.

Caden Steger

Caden has continued to grow in his trade skills since the start of school.  He asks great questions and in always on task.  I can pair him up with anyone, and he’ll improve the other student’s understanding of the material.  He would win the Jason Bourne Award as my silent assassin….he quietly attacks and eliminates all problems.

Carter Rich

I did not have the opportunity to work with Carter much before October, 2021.  I was lucky enough to be needed to help with instruction for the Visual Design and Imaging program when their instructor Mr. Raymond was indisposed.  I turned to the senior VDI students who have much more design experience (than the junior VDI students or me) to find out what they thought the junior should be working on at this time of year.  A few senior students immediately stood out from the rest offering to help with projects for the juniors and Carter was the first and most professional of the small group.

Over the next few weeks, Carter showed what an amazing designer and content creator he truly is by organizing instruction for the junior VDI lab, modifying his schedule so he could come in and personally instruct the juniors on new projects, and helped created a schedule with content, group leaders, and props/staging for PLCC Sophomore Visits.  Effectively, the small group led by Carter created a student-led marketing promotion to encourage new students to pick VDI for next school year.   Carter volunteered to come in during his personal time to provide educated content regarding technology and software used in VDI for new students and answer any questions the visitors had.  Mr. Rich showed an incredibly animated and entertaining side of his personality that is not often seen at school because he wanted to do his best work in order to make Mr. Raymond proud.  Carter also went out of his way to represent the Visual Design & Imaging program professionally by volunteering his time for the Open House evening.  As the only student to represent their program during the open house, he introduced himself to every set of visitors, chatted about the software & technical program, and answered parent questions to the best of his ability.  Mr. Rich showed concern for all interested students and parents and tried to help everyone he could that evening.

Carter and his small group were so incredibly successful at their program marketing that the VDI program was completely filled with new students within two weeks of the recruiting event.

Carter Rich makes design, content creation/management and marketing look easy!

Aries Steiner

Aries is a leader in the classroom. He always completes his assigned tasks on time and helps others on theirs. He is always wanting to try other things outside of the scope of the class and has proven he has what it takes to be an overachiever.

Kyle Anker

Kyle is a very positive person and student. He is willing to assist the instructor and his fellow classmates. Kyle helps keep other students motivated. Kyle is a leader in the Law and Criminal Justice Program. Kyle works several jobs and participates in the ride along programs with the New Franklin Police Department and Springfield Township Police. Kyle is a member of Jackson Township Police Departments Explorer Program. Kyle is eager to learn as much as possible about the criminal justice field. Kyle is a positive representative of the Law and Criminal Justice Program and the Portage Lakes Career Center. It is with pleasure that I nominate Kyle Anker for Student of the month.

It is my pleasure to be a part of her journey!

Colton is always focused on his work and turns in consistent quality work. He does a lot for the class.

Natalie Selby

Natalie is a positive student who demonstrates strong character.  She treats people well and speaks up when she sees others being treated poorly.  We are lucky to have Natalie at PLCC.

Cindy Mook

Cindy’s grade is actually above 100%. She is also very responsible. She goes above and beyond by collecting calculators that other students leave on their desks and organizing them for us every day (at the end of the day). She is also very polite to both teachers.

Ryan Beretics

Ryan is always polite and helpful in class. He answers questions and participates regularly.  He’s really an awesome student. He’s helpful to anyone who needs it. He asks questions often and really tries to understand the material. He’s pretty funny and a joy to have in class.
