Job Title: Small Machine Operator
Department: Bindery
FLSA Status: Non – Exempt
Reports To: Bindery Supervisor
SUMMARY:
Coordinate, set up and maintain small bindery machines and equipment. Machine operation includes the coordination and operation of the Mailer, Dot Wac, use of the Polybag, Drills, Shanklin, Shrink Wrap Machine and Folders, Spiral Binding in the Bindery Department which are used to complete Bindery Operations and fulfill customer orders to quality specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Demonstrate knowledge and the ability to understand bindery related specifications
• Demonstrate the ability to perform make readies (m/r) on all equipment listed as small machines
• Demonstrate compliance with all safety procedures
• Demonstrate consistency in the observation of all safety procedures, bending and lifting techniques
• Show leadership skills as well as interpersonal skills
• Possess the knowledge and ability to read and understand the job tickets, workers, order and all other documentation that pertains to each job
• Interact with supervisors to facilitate daily schedules
• Understands and carry out customer’s quality requirements
• Able to meet or exceed expected goals on make readies, speeds, waste and efficiencies, etc…
• The ability to operate all tools pertaining to equipment, wrenches, gauges and tape measures, etc…
• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or to determine whether adjustments are needed
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when what maintenance is needed
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of formal job related training (can be waived)
• 1-3 years of job related work experience (can be waived)
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• The ability to read and write English
• The ability to communicate effectively both orally and verbally
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to perform basic math skills
• Ability to interpret and utilize various units of measure and their conversions
PROBLEM SOLVING
• Ability to generate solutions to problem without equipment
• Recommends new solutions to production problems
• Finding ways to improve processes and efficiencies on a production
