Salary Electrical Technician

Position Summary:

Accountable for electrical maintenance to meet production, quality and cost objectives with minimal delays.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety of all employees by adhering to all safe work practices and ensuring that all tools, equipment, and work spaces are in safe operating condition.
  • Plan and implement preventative and predictive maintenance activities. Effectively communicate what has been accomplished and what needs to be accomplished to ensure efficient continuity of operations.
  • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
  • Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of installed equipment. Develop equipment specifications.
  • Continually provide information necessary to plan, schedule and coordinate
    maintenance/construction projects. Assist in developing specifications for construction projects.
  • If able, assist in identification and utilization of external contractors.
  • Maintain technical documentation as needed. Program PLC’s and perform instrumentation work.
  • Participate in the development of long range plans for equipment repairs and upgrades.
  • Assure conformance to EPA regulations, particularly Bag House and Melt Shop.
  • Manage continuous improvement and other special projects.
  • Assure compliance with all company policies

Qualifications:

  • In-depth electrical maintenance experience, typically acquired through a trade school, higher education, or work experience.

  • In-depth understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.

  • Basic mechanical and hydraulic skills.

  • Solid communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills: ability to relate to all types of people; demonstrated trust and integrity.

  • Troubleshooting and organizational skills.

 

Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

  • 3 years of electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Journeyman card or equivalent certificate required.
