SUPERVISOR Signal Technician
Definition/Purpose
Under supervision of Signal Technician, assists in installation, maintenance and repair of electric traffic signals and electronic systems in County, performs electrical maintenance on building systems and equipment.
Characteristic Work
Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical traffic signals and street lights. Operates bucket and ladder truck to set poles, replace bulbs, connect sources of electricity, etc. Operates concrete saw. Uses hand tools to attach and set timing control boxes, places temporary traffic control devices and control boxes in shop, overhauls signals, rewires control boxes, replaces work parts, etc. Performs electrical maintenance on building systems, replaces security and building lights, inspects and repairs outlets, wires, electrical equipment, etc. performs relate work and completes record as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and write. Graduation from an accredited High School and experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, wiring, and controls, including electronic equipment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of the principle practices, materials, and methods of repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical and electronic equipment, wiring, and controls. Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions in plant electrical work. Knowledge of

the principles of electronics and electrical work. Knowledge of the principles of electronics and electrical control. Ability to use and care for tools of the electrical trade. Ability to work at various heights from ladder or bucket truck. Ability to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation duties on complex electrical equipment. Ability to work from sketches, plans, and diagrams. Ability to detect locate, and correct electrical troubles in lines and controls. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must have a valid State of Ohio Commercial Drivers License.
