DESCRIPTION

OhioGuidestone connects individuals with the resources needed to achieve lifelong success, providing community counseling, substance use disorder treatment, workforce development training, early childhood mental health services, psychiatric care and more.

 

OhioGuidestone is seeking a passionate and excited individual to provide vocation behavioral health services to clients in Summit County. Vocational Specialists provide case management and qualified mental health services to clients needing assistance with housing, benefits, and/or adult probation and those with serious and persistent mental illness needing behavioral interventions and stabilization.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain a service relationship with youth and family
  • Consult with an ODMH Mental Health Assessment, develops a service/treatment plan
  • Provides Ohio Department of Mental Health Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)
  • Provides parents with information on disciplining, behavior management, household management and communication and relationship enhancement when needed; teaches youth social skills
  • Provides crisis intervention and mediation as necessary
  • Coordinates, makes referrals, or arranges for appropriate community resources when needed, acts as an advocate if necessary
  • Teaches family how to utilize the systems
  • Ensures that children are in the proper educational setting
  • Maintains ongoing contacts (phone, meetings, conferences) with other professionals involved, including collateral contacts with community resources/services
  • Attends all court hearings
  • Organization and maintenance of documentation of written client information and case notes
  • Record keeping and copying of necessary information, dissemination to appropriate individuals within the agency and any outside agencies based on departmental requirements
  • Participates in staff training, supervisory staff meetings & program consultation
    Coordinate and provide service and support to their assigned clients and families or care givers in the home and school environment
    Provide school personnel and parents with information on disciplining, behavior management, household management, communication and relationship enhancement
  • Consult with school personnel and participate in team meetings as necessary
  • Meet with school personnel to establish parameters of school based mental health services and meet with school personnel on an as needed basis or as requested throughout the school year
  • Inform appropriate school personnel of clients being served maintaining confidentiality
  • Educate school personnel on various mental health conditions/diagnoses and assist with effective classroom intervention/strategies
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance. 

 

Performance/Physical Requirements:

-Work is performed in the homes of clients and several community agencies. This involves extensive driving.
-English reading and writing skills required
-Interacts verbally with coworkers, representatives from outside agencies, and families
-Attention to detail and confidentiality required
-Works flexible hours
-Requires typing and computer competency, including Windows applications for moderate levels of typing case notes and other paperwork

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related field is preferred
  • Must have a valid Ohio Drivers License, proof of valid Auto Insurance, and a safe driving record
