What You Will Learn

In this program, you can take a big step toward an exciting new career as a Network Technician, Programmer or IT Security Technician. PLCC’s Cyber Security program is a focused learning community designed to offer students the opportunity to explore computer science, computer & network engineering, programming & software development, and cyber security. Throughout this program, students will acquire strong teamwork and communication proficiencies and develop organizational, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. The Cyber Security program introduces students to a wide range of hands-on learning with equipment found in a professional IT environment.

Students will spend their junior year learning and exploring course-work that introduces them to the scope and discipline of the
Information & Technology career path.  At the end of the junior year, students will select either Programming/Web Development or Networking/Cyber Security as their area of concentration to complete their senior year.

Meet the Teacher:  Maria Schlenk

I graduated from Youngstown State University with a BA in speech communication and I completed coursework for my English teaching license and my Career Technical license at Kent State University. I worked for over 20 years as a computer programmer and systems analyst, most recently for Progressive Insurance. I live in Hudson with my husband, son and an antisocial cat. I love teaching at PLCC. The students are highly motivated to be here because they’ve made a positive choice and the staff is dedicated, friendly and helpful.
