SB29 Compliance Notice (Effective October 24, 2024):
In accordance with Ohio Senate Bill 29, Portage Lakes Career Center (PLCC) has updated its data privacy policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of student data protection and privacy.
At Portage Lakes Career Center (PLCC), the privacy, safety, and security of our students and staff are among our highest priorities and responsibilities. We are fully committed to strictly protecting personal information and maintaining a secure online environment.
Under SB29, all educational records and student data created, maintained, or stored by technology providers through our digital services belong to PLCC. Our technology providers are contractually obligated to:
NEOnet provides IT services to school districts, including data management and network support. As part of its services, NEOnet has access to various educational records, such as student information systems (SIS), financial records, attendance data, and other district-level digital assets to ensure smooth operations and compliance with state reporting requirements.
Lightspeed Systems specializes in providing cloud-based filtering and device management solutions designed specifically for schools. Their advanced filtering technology ensures safe and compliant internet access by blocking inappropriate content.
Google for Education offers a suite of powerful tools, including Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), designed to support teaching and learning in schools. All data is protected under strict privacy standards, ensuring that educational records are secure and used only to support the teaching and learning process.
Microsoft Online provides cloud-based services through Microsoft 365, including tools such as Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint. All data is protected under Microsoft’s stringent privacy standards and used solely to support educational activities.
